I work in marketing communications so I *know* this stuff. These are exactly the kinds of tactics I recommend my clients to employ. Identify your target audience. Get in front of their eyeballs. Use influencers to help you. Pay for boosted posts on Facebook or to promote yourself on Twitter. Do I do this for myself? Not really. Hardly ever. Why? Because my work speaks for itself. It’s special and and my words are sunlight dancing on water and therefore I don’t need to. Except I do. Because I have built it and hardly anyone has come.
